Prevention • Treatment • Resources • Insurance Advocacy

EDAO is committed to preventing eating disorders
through increased education and public awareness.

EDAO helps those suffering with eating disorders, families
and friends find treatment options and local support.

EDAO continues to update and publish a nonbiased
consortium of resources for recovery.

EDAO has joined the fight for recognition of eating disorders
as a public health priority in the State of Ohio.

Advocates on a Mission

EDAO began in the summer of 2006 as a dialogue between two people who shared a common passion...to help those struggling with eating disorders. As common lay people, we did not know how. Through divine connections our two founders grew into a group of 10 within a year. Our mission became clear. First, the public did not understand eating disorders. We must educate them. Second, the resources for treatment and support in our area was limited. We needed to connect them with life-saving resources. And finally, many people struggling with an eating disorder are unable to get treatment paid for by their insurance companies. The state of Ohio does not mandate it. We figured we would change that too.

With an aggressive mission ahead of us, we have begun our march. We encourage you to please utilize this site often as we will keep you informed of changes that take place as they arise.

Thank you and God Bless.

EDAO would like to extend a special “thank you” to Carolyn Pickler at New Beginnings Counseling Center for uniting us in our mission and for being such an integral “hub” of ED recovery in Northeast Ohio.
